KEPALA BATAS, Sept 26 (Bernama) -- Several roads in the Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) district here will be closed to make way for Stage Two of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2025 cycling race on Monday (Sept 29).
SPU District Police chief ACP Anuar Abdul Rahman said the flag-off for the race’s second stage on Monday would begin in Padang Besar, Perlis and end the same day in front of Institut Latihan Perindustrian (ILP) Kepala Batas, here.
“For the SPU district, the LTDL race will pass through several roads starting from Merdeka Bridge and the affected roads are as follows: Merdeka Bridge - Bumbung Lima - Jalan Dato Haji Ahmad Badawi - Jalan Tun Hamdan Sheikh Tahir up to the finish line at ILP Kepala Batas.
“The affected roads will be closed from 1.30 pm and reopened once the race ends, which is expected to be at 6 pm,” he said in a statement tonight.
He said road users were advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes to avoid Jalan Tun Hamdan Sheikh Tahir, with the alternatives being from Kepala Batas to Tasek Gelugor, or vice versa, via the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) traffic light junction, Persiaran Seksyen 4 Putera Bertam, and the Taman Mekarsari traffic light junction.
He said road closures during the race would also involve the Bertam Toll Plaza from both the northbound and southbound directions. Road users travelling from north to south could use the Sungai Dua exit, while those from south to north could use either the Sungai Dua exit or the Sungai Petani Selatan toll exit.
“For any enquiries, contact the Seberang Perai Utara District Police Headquarters at 04-576 2222 or the Seberang Perai Utara Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at 04-574 1241,” he said.
The LTDL 2025 cycling race will begin on Sept 28 in Langkawi, Kedah and end on Oct 5 in Kuala Lumpur, featuring 132 riders from 22 teams.
