Police Tracking Down Suspects Behind Tesla Break-in, RM100,000 Stolen

JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Police are tracking down several individuals, suspected of smashing the window of a Tesla car and escaping with bags containing about RM100,000 in cash, in Taman Perling, here, last Thursday.

Johor Bahru Utara police chief ACP Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh said that the incident, which went viral on Facebook, was later reported by a 34-year-old man at 1.34 pm the same day.

Balveer said that initial investigations found that the incident took place at about 10.11 am, when the victim parked his electric car with the doors locked. However, upon returning, he discovered that the driver’s side window had been smashed by an unknown suspect.

The victim reported that a bag containing cash, amounting to about RM100,000, had gone missing.

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft and urged members of the public with information on the incident to contact the Johor Bahru Utara district police headquarters at 07-556 3122.
