IPOH, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- Police have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate known as 'Boy Lembu’ following the arrest of four suspects, including a foreigner, in a special operation carried out at Pengkalan Utama, Lahat, near here, on Tuesday (Feb 3).

Ipoh police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abang Ahmad said that, based on information and two weeks of intelligence gathering by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) of the Ipoh Police Headquarters, police arrested the suspects, aged 17 to 50, at about 7 pm.

"Police seized 33 plastic packets containing compressed pieces of dried leaves suspected to be ganja, in an old lorry near a mine that had been abandoned for the past four years and which was used as a temporary drug storage.

"The seized drugs, weighing about 32 kilogrammes (kg), are worth RM94,000,” he told a media conference at the Ipoh police headquarters here today, adding that the seized drugs could feed the habit of 42,000 addicts.

He added that only the foreigner tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, while the 50-year-old suspect had prior crime and drug-related records.

"We believe this syndicate has other networks that we believe have been active around Ipoh since January 2025,” he said, adding that all the suspects have been remanded for five days until Sunday (Feb 8) to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Meanwhile, he said police also arrested a 37-year-old drug dealer in a separate raid on a house in Tasek Square Residential, Kampung Tawas, here at about 3.45 pm yesterday.

"Upon inspecting the rental home, we found seven transparent plastic packages believed to contain 114 grammes of syabu worth RM13,680.

"Police also seized drug paraphernalia, including digital weighing scales, glass bottles and empty plastic packages,” he said, adding that the unemployed suspect had 10 prior records, besides testing positive for methamphetamine.

He added that the suspect has also been remanded till Sunday to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
