KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 (Bernama) -- Investigations into businessman Victor Chin Boon Long over alleged corporate manipulation linked to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) are actively ongoing, involving multiple enforcement agencies.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the probe involves the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA), as well as the Securities Commission (SC).

He said authorities have information on Victor Chin’s whereabouts, and any action, including the possible revocation of his passport, will be determined after initial investigation procedures are completed.

“First, the police AMLA team will establish the direction of the investigation. Then we will identify the modus operandi and contact those involved.

“As for whether we will proceed with restricting his travel documents, I will leave it to the investigation process,” he told reporters after attending the 219th Police Day celebration officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) here today.

On March 16, police confirmed conducting raids on several premises linked to the corporate figure in Kemensah and Sungai Long, Kajang, but he and his wife were not present during the operations.

In a separate development, Saifuddin Nasution said Malaysia’s ranking at 13th out of 165 countries in the Global Peace Index 2025 places the country as the third most peaceful in the Asia-Pacific after Singapore and New Zealand, and second in Southeast Asia.

He said the ranking also serves as an important reference for foreign investors.

“In conjunction with the 219th Police Day, we reaffirm our commitment to maintain this position. In fact, under the 13th Malaysia Plan, we aim to improve to ninth place within the next five years,” he said.

Police Day, with the slogan “Police and Community Are Inseparable”, is celebrated annually on March 25 to honour the service, sacrifice and dedication of PDRM personnel in maintaining national security and public order.

The date also marks the establishment of the police force on March 25, 1807 in Penang following the Charter of Justice.
