ALOR SETAR, March 31 (Bernama) -- A police officer suspected of soliciting and receiving a bribe of about RM20,000 as inducement to change a charge for a traffic case has been remanded for four days beginning today.
An MACC source said the officer, in his 30s, is remanded till April 3 following his arrest at about 12.50 pm yesterday during a raid on an eatery in Sungai Petani.
“Preliminary investigations found that the suspect received about RM2,000 in cash in mid-Decemer last year.
“The suspect allegedly requested about RM20,000 more from the victim prior to yesterday’s arrest,” they said.
Meanwhile, Kedah MACC director Datuk Nazli Rasyid Sulong confirmed the developments when contacted, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
