KUCHING, April 6 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), in collaboration with the police, successfully carried out an integrated operation that led to the seizure of a vessel suspected of involvement in the misappropriation of subsidised diesel in Sibu on April 4.

Sarawak KPDN said that based on intelligence and monitoring, the vessel was detained and found to be carrying an estimated 132,000 litres of diesel stored in nine separate tanks.

“The value of the seized diesel is estimated at RM283,800. Initial inspections found that the vessel failed to produce valid documents related to the ownership and transportation of the fuel,” it said in a statement today.

Sarawak KPDN said it will strengthen strategic cooperation with other enforcement agencies such as the police in combating the misappropriation of controlled goods, particularly diesel, which has an impact on the national economy and public well-being.
