KOTA BHARU, April 11 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ), in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, detected multiple traffic offences during a joint operation around the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (LTSIP), resulting in 171 notices issued and 16 vehicles seized.
The operation, conducted from 4 pm to 2 am, was launched in response to growing concerns over speeding and illegal group activities involving motorcycles and cars in the area.
Kelantan JPJ director Mohd Misuari Abdullah said a total of 205 vehicles were inspected, with enforcement action taken against 132 vehicles for various offences, including licensing violations, illegal modifications, and breaches of traffic laws.
Police recorded 91 cases, seizing 11 vehicles, comprising 10 motorcycles and one car. Urine tests conducted on 12 individuals all returned negative results.
Meanwhile, JPJ recorded 41 cases and issued 80 notices for various offences, while also seizing five vehicles, comprising four motorcycles and one car, for further action.
In a notable case, a Yamaha 135LC was issued 13 summonses for extreme modifications, operating without a valid driving licence, and having a road tax that had expired since 2018. Additionally, a Honda vehicle was seized for unauthorised engine modification.
