KUCHING, April 28 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Immigration Department (JIM) detained 64 foreigners during enforcement operations conducted around the city yesterday.
In a statement, Sarawak JIM said that the operations, which ran from morning until late at night, focused on construction sites and business premises.
The morning phase of the operation targeted a terrace house construction site in the Matang area, as well as an unit at the Moyan Square business center suspected of operating online gambling activities.
In the evening, the operations continued with raids on a reflexology center in Tabuan and several restaurants around the city that were identified as employing foreigners without valid travel documents or passes.
Sarawak JIM emphasised that it will continue to intensify enforcement efforts from time to time as a measure to raise awareness among employers and serve as a lesson for them to comply with the law.
