PONTIAN, May 21 (Bernama) -- The body of a man, believed to have been murdered, was found in a pool of blood in front of a food and beverage outlet located in Pekan Nanas here, early this morning.
Pontian District Police Chief Supt Hadzrat Hussien Mion Hussain said a team of officers and personnel from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Pontian District Police Headquarters rushed to the scene after receiving information regarding the incident at approximately 3:53 am.
He said preliminary police investigations revealed that the victim was a 22-year-old local man who sustained severe injuries to his arms and legs.
"The victim was later confirmed dead at the scene, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Police are currently actively investigating to identify the motive behind the incident and to track down the suspects involved.
"In connection with this, members of the public with information regarding the incident are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting the investigating officer, ASP Ahmad Shah Abdul Rasheed at 019-757 8020, or by visiting the nearest police station," he said in a statement today.
