Engineer Found Dead In Car A Victim Of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

GEORGE TOWN, May 30 (Bernama) -- A man who was found dead inside a car parked in front of an ice cream shop along Jalan Sungai Dua here yesterday was a victim of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Timur Laut District Deputy Police Chief Supt Lee Swee Sake said the cause of death of the 37-year-old engineer was determined following a post-mortem conducted at the Forensic Department of Hospital Pulau Pinang here today.

"The post-mortem found that the victim died due to carbon monoxide poisoning and there were no elements of foul play. The case has been classified as a sudden death, and a Sudden Death Report has been opened for further investigation.

"The victim is also believed to have died about five days before his body was discovered yesterday," he told Bernama when contacted.

It is understood that the victim is believed to have fallen asleep in his car without switching off the vehicle's engine.

Yesterday, the body of the victim, who was from Ayer Itam, was found neatly dressed and lying in the driver's seat of his wife's car, which was locked from the inside, at 11.47 am.
