SEREMBAN, June 4 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan police crippled a drug trafficking syndicate following two separate raids around Port Dickson early yesterday morning, with the total seizure amounting to RM1.4 million.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the 3 am operation was carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Port Dickson Police Headquarters (IPD), in collaboration with the Port Dickson IPD Special Branch and the Region 2 Marine Police Force.

He said that in the first raid, in the waters of Kampung Kuala Lukut Port Dickson, police arrested two Indonesian men, in their 30s, aboard a speedboat loaded with drugs.

“Upon inspection, we found 10 packages believed to contain syabu, wrapped in Chinese tea packaging, weighing 12 kilogrammes (kg) and estimated to be worth RM600,000, and bound for Indonesia.

“Upon interrogating the two men, it was found that this was not the first time they have been involved in drug smuggling activities as they are believed to have done so on four previous occasions before being foiled this time,” he told a media conference here today.

He said police also seized the unregistered boat, which is believed to have been used by the suspects to smuggle drugs out of the country to Dumai, Indonesia, and that the two suspects have been remanded for seven days until June 9.

Alzafny said that based on information obtained from the arrest, police tracked down a Perodua Myvi car in Tanjung Agas, Port Dickson, adding that the vehicle was believed to have been used by the main suspect to bring drug supplies from Kuala Lumpur before handing them over to individuals acting as recipients around Pengkalan Kempas.

He added that the 42-year-old suspect then sped off before the car skidded after 6km at an oil palm plantation in Pengkalan Kempas, Linggi.

“However, the suspect managed to escape, leaving his vehicle behind. Upon inspection, we found syabu weighing 14.4kg worth RM744,000, and 100 packets of vape liquid suspected to contain ketamine worth RM100,000,” he said.

Alzafny said police are tracking down the suspect to identify the syndicate network involved, while checks found that the suspect was from this state and has six previous drug-related criminal records.

He added that the case is being investigated under Sections 39B and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
