ALOR SETAR, April 17 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has welcomed Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s decision to implement cost-saving measures in state financial management.
PKR Kedah communications director Tunku Nashrul Abaidah said the move reflected a stance aligned with the approach emphasised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“The policy is aimed at managing state finances as well as addressing cost pressures and the global energy crisis.
“The move, albeit being late, is still welcomed as it at least acknowledges that a mature, prudent and reality-based approach, as outlined by the MADANI Government, is not mere rhetoric but a necessity,” he said in a statement today.
Tunku Nashrul said that amid an increasingly complex and interconnected crisis, the state government could not remain trapped in sensational politics or populist statements.
“Priority must shift towards comprehensive, practical and responsible solutions, as has long been demonstrated at the Federal level.
“Ironically, this approach was once questioned and belittled. Today, the same approach is being adopted. If this marks the beginning of such change, then it deserves support, even if it has taken time to reach this stage,” he said.
