KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) -- Final preparations for the HAWANA-DBP 2026 Pantun Festival, which will take place tomorrow, are progressing smoothly, with the organising committee completing the final arrangements to ensure the competition runs seamlessly.
Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin said the programme is expected not only to elevate national heritage but also serve as a platform to uncover media practitioners’ talents in the art of pantun.
“Alhamdulillah, the committee managing this year’s HAWANA-DBP Pantun Festival has worked tirelessly to ensure preparations for tomorrow’s event proceed smoothly, and I am pleased with the arrangements made.
“This time, we are introducing a different setting at Panggung Sari, Kompleks Kraf, where the ambience and design elements can help inspire participants to deliver their pantun in a more engaging and heartfelt manner,” she said when met during the full rehearsal of the HAWANA-DBP 2026 Pantun Festival here today.
Nur-ul Afida, who is also chairman of the HAWANA working committee, said the competition continues to uphold its traditional identity, with all participants donning classic Malay attire. The audience will also be treated to traditional song performances by Mawi.
She said, as in previous editions, the champion and runner-up will only be announced during the highlight of the National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2026 celebration in Penang on June 20.
“I hope the competition will run smoothly and satisfy all participating parties. All eight teams will be able to showcase their strengths in pantun and achieve the best possible results,” she said.
Carrying the theme ‘Journalism and Technology’, the HAWANA-DBP 2026 Pantun Festival will see eight teams, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), TV3, Astro Audio News, Berita Harian, Sinar Harian, Media Selangor and Bernama competing for the championship title.
