KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 (Bernama) -- Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd is facilitating access to Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) newly introduced SME Stabilisation Relief Facility (SME SRF) to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) affected by ongoing global economic uncertainties, including the continuing conflict in West Asia.
Its president and chief executive officer, Datuk Khairul Kamarudin said the bank understood the growing challenges faced by SMEs and remained committed to assisting businesses through practical and Shariah-compliant financial solutions.
“At Bank Muamalat, our priority is to stand alongside our customers with practical and Shariah-compliant solutions that support their immediate needs while strengthening long-term resilience.
“We strongly encourage SMEs who may be affected to reach out to us early so that we can work together to identify the most appropriate support for their business continuity and growth,” he said in a statement here today.
The SME SRF is part of BNM’s RM5 billion relief initiative aimed at supporting viable SMEs impacted by geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions.
Bank Muamalat said the facility reflects a coordinated industry effort to help businesses remain resilient and continue contributing to economic stability.
Under the SME SRF, eligible SMEs may obtain financing of up to RM750,000 at a profit rate capped at 3.75 per cent per annum.
The facility is further strengthened by guarantee coverage of up to 80 per cent through Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd (CGC) or Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Bhd (SJPP), aimed at improving access to financing for affected businesses.
Apart from the facility, Bank Muamalat said it continues assisting SMEs through rescheduling and restructuring assistance, flexible repayment arrangements, personalised advisory services and Shariah-compliant financing solutions to help businesses manage cash flow pressures and sustain operations.
Applications for the SME SRF are open to eligible SME borrowers from May 15 until Dec 31, 2026, or until the allocated funds are fully utilised.
