Two flood evacuation centres in Sabah closed, 32 evacuees left

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 16 -- The number of flood evacuees in Sabah dropped to 32 from seven families as at 8 pm today from 68 (27 families) in the morning.

The Sabah Disaster Management Committee secretariat in a statement said two flood evacuation centres in Putatan, namely, Dewan Sri Serigai and Dewan Sri Keramat, were also closed this evening.

It said only one evacuation centre, namely, at the Penampang Sports Complex Clubhouse was still operating, with the 32 evacuees involved.

Continuous heavy rain since noon yesterday resulted in floods in three districts in Sabah, namely, Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and Putatan again, affecting several villages with landslides also occurring.
