LPP TO DEVELOP 10 e-SATELLITE FARMS NEXT YEAR

LARUT -- The Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) plans to develop 10 e-Satellite Farms, namely  vegetable farming projects using the Internet of Things (IoT) system nationwide next year.

Its director, Datuk Azulita Salim, said the RM3-million project under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) was aimed at boosting food supply for the country's needs by using technology.

She said so far, the e-satellite farm had been successfully developed by the National Farmers Organisation (NAFAS) in Kuala Langat, Selangor last year and the latest at Kampung Tapah, Ulu Selama, which is expected to fully operate next month.

“The e-satellite farms are more effective and organised to control crop planting systems, including the use of fertilisers, water and pesticides, as well as weather control and to save labour costs.

“This agricultural project has proved to be safe for consumption and provided lucrative returns to target groups,” she told reporters after opening the Selama NAFAS IoT at Kampung Tapah, Ulu Selama today.
