KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 27 -- The Bernama Terengganu Bureau took home RM10,000 in cash after winning seven main awards tonight in the Terengganu Media Appreciation Awards organised by the state government.
Bureau chief Zalina Maizan Ngah won two main awards - feature/current issue and economy/industry - in the best print media category as well as RM3,000 in cash.
Photographer Mohd Khairul Fikiri Osman also won two main awards in the best photography category and RM3,000 in cash, while stringer Kamaliza Kamaruddin won two main awards in best social media video and best social media categories, as well as RM3,000 in cash.
Reporter Balqis Jamaludin, meanwhile, came in second and took home RM1,000 in cash.
All media agencies in Terengganu took part in the Terengganu Media Appreciation Awards, which offered a total of RM105,000 in prizes.
Meanwhile, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar expressed his hope that the appreciation awards ceremony would motivate media practitioners to continue to strive for excellence in factual news reporting for the development of the state and the welfare of its people.
"Don’t manipulate emotions, inaccurate or fake information because it will cause confusion among the public. Media practitioners with integrity are much needed these days. May the good relationship between the state government and media practitioners highlight the beauty, strength and benefits Terengganu possesses to the public,” he said.
