SCOMI GROUP BHD’s wholly owned subsidiary Scomi Capital Sdn Bhd (SCSB) has executed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Xair Pulsecor Sdn Bhd to collaborate on the supply of power generation solutions and hybrid power generation systems.
Scomi Group told Bursa Malaysia today that both parties will also collaborate on the provision of power management services such as leasing, operation and maintenance of power generation as well as the export of Xair DCR generators and Xair SMARTGen controllers.
Collaboration within the domestic market involves the supply of generators, or gensets, and any other related systems on a project-to-project basis to SCSB for its energy management business. The export market includes Pakistan, Cambodia and Myanmar,” the filing said.
“Both parties are desirous to leverage off Xair’s knowledge in the business of providing and manufacturing power generators and SCSB’s expertise in the business of renewable energy management services,” it added.

ASIA POLY HOLDINGS BHD (API) has entered into a share sale agreement with 10 vendors for the acquisition of 1,107,250 ordinary shares in Keng Imports & Exports Sdn Bhd (KIESB) for RM24.02 million.
The acquisition via wholly owned subsidiary Asia Poly Industrial Sdn Bhd represents a 100 per cent equity stake in KIESB and KIESB would be an indirectly owned subsidiary of Asia Poly.
The acquisition allows the group to expand its production capacity up to 3,200 tonnes per month to meet the growing demand from overseas customers especially from the United States and the Middle East.
"The acquisition will expect to contribute positively to the group’s future earnings,” it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today. KIESB is an investment holding company and owns 4.5 acres of industrial land in Selangor. Asia Poly makes cast acrylic sheets.

MCIS INSURANCE BHD’s (MCIS Life) life insurance plan Merchantrade Insure-Life has been recognised as having the “lowest” premium starting from as low as RM1 a month by the Malaysia Book of Records. The plan is marketed by Merchantrade Asia Sdn Bhd.

IBM MALAYSIA said LG Electronics will join the IBM Quantum Network to advance industry applications of quantum computing in order to support big data, artificial intelligence, connected cars, digital transformation, the Internet of Things (IoTs) and robotics applications over the next three years.
LG Electronics will have access to IBM’s quantum computing systems, as well as to IBM’s quantum expertise and Qiskit, IBM’s open-source quantum information software development kit, the IBM statement said.
"With IBM Quantum, LG can leverage quantum computing hardware and software advances and applications as they emerge, in accordance with IBM’s quantum roadmap,” the statement said.
LG will provide workforce training to its employees by leveraging IBM Quantum technology. This will enable LG to explore potential breakthroughs in its industry.

SHELL and Porsche Asia Pacific are extending their electric vehicle (EV) high-performance charging network along the Singapore-Malaysia-Thailand route, via the North-South Expressway later this year.
Shell said in a statement today that this would be the first high-performance charging (HPC) infrastructure EV network in Southeast Asia and Shell’s first cross-country EV infrastructure in the region.
"This infrastructure will help all EV customers to reduce charging time, book and pay via an integrated platform,” it said.
The starting of operations at its HPC station in Tangkak, Johor marks the beginning of construction of 12 charge points at six Shell stations located along Malaysia’s North-South highway.
