BAGAN SERAI, May 8 (Bernama) -- Over 100,000 people are expected to attend the Santai Anak Utara (SAU) gathering honouring its 10th anniversary at Taman Jubli Emas in Alor Star, Kedah on May 21.
SAU founder, Muhammad Safiyuddin Elias said the celebration was aimed to educate motorcyclists about road safety and to curb corruption.
“We are collaborating with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to educate motorcyclists to not be involved in corruption, especially providing bribes when not possessing motorcycle licences,” he said during a media conference at the SAU Hari Raya Aidilfitri with Riders programme at Dewan Datuk Zainal Abidin Zin here today that was officiated by Deputy National Unity Minister Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
Muhammad Safiyuddin said the gathering was supported by SAU advisor Wan Ahmad Fayhsal and would feature various activities, including talks about safety to motorcyclists and a blood donation drive.
He said there are plans to hold another large-scale SAU gathering at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS), Serdang, Selangor before the end of this year.
Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said his ministry would assist and help educate motorsports enthusiasts about road safety, good values and national unity.
“It would be a shame if we did not have strong cooperation as they have motorsports enthusiasts and the government wants to help educate them and Malaysians in general.
“SAU is already 10 years old and it is a strong brand among motorcyclists in the north,” he said.
He added that SAU was a platform that could be used for education programmes to create a society with integrity by inviting speakers to talk on anti-corruption and anti-drug campaigns to reach youth and ensure they do not get involved in such activities.
