29/05/2022 03:17 PM

IPOH, May 29 (Bernama) -- Local authorities in Perak have been asked to review by-laws on business premises to prevent them from being misused or unutilised.

State Rural Development, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Committee chairman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin said this was because many complaints had been received that most of the rented premises were not operating as they should.

“This matter has been raised in many dialogues with entrepreneurs and I have also brought this up in the state executive council meetings as local authorities have certain lease conditions to comply with.

“The public notice that there are many unutilised premises out there and many of them need these properties to work from.

“As a state executive councillor, I represent these entrepreneurs to request the cooperation of local authorities to look into how these premises can be utilised as best as possible so that those deserving can operate from there,” he said.

Zainol Fadzi was speaking to reporters when met at an Aidilfitri open house organised by the Perak Malay Chamber of Commerce here today.

He said the state government had collaborated with various agencies, including Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), Perak State Secretary Inc (SSI) and Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) for their premises to be rented out to entrepreneurs in need.

Zainol Fadzi drew attention recently when he revealed that there were batik entrepreneurs from Perak who had to operate in other states due to the difficulty in obtaining premises to work from.
