PUTRAJAYA, June 7 (Bernama) -- DesaMall@KPLB, the Rural Development Ministry’s (KPLB) initiative to help rural entrepreneurs market their products online, has recorded over RM4.03 million in sales since it was introduced in October 2017 until April this year.

KPLB deputy secretary-general (policy) Datuk Che Murad Sayang Ramjan said the figure was recorded through 3,567 products marketed on e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Shopee and eBay, involving 27,424 stock keeping units (SKUs).

“As of April, a total of 3,000 rural entrepreneurs have been trained under the DesaMall@KPLB programme to market their products on e-commerce platforms.

“Online marketing through the DesaMall@KPLB platform has increased the sales revenue of rural entrepreneurs by up to 30 per cent,” he told reporters after officiating at the Rural Entrepreneur Digitalisation programme here today.

As such, he encouraged more rural entrepreneurs to participate in the initiative as it could help them improve the quality of their products for online business.

“No strict requirements...we will give priority to those who have been in business for at least six months and have their own products,” he said.

Meanwhile, Che Murad Sayang said the Rural Entrepreneur Digitalisation programme was implemented to help rural entrepreneurs increase their productivity and efficiency in conducting online businesses.

“Participants can expand the use of digital technologies in managing their business including in the preparation of balance sheets, stock management in warehouses and shops as well as other skills.

“This is because they will be given exposure in four modules, namely accounting and finance, point of sales system, eWallet and connectivity operated by selected KPLB strategic partners,” he said.
