KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) and Google Cloud have formed a collaboration to enhance digital education services and data analytics for B40 and asnaf (tithe recipient) children.
They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to advance initiatives under MAIWP’s Digital Blueprint strategy in an official ceremony at Google Malaysia’s office here today.
MAIWP chairman Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar said the MoU aims to implement Google Workspace for Education, and empower staff and students at its educational institutions with simple and flexible tools, such as Classroom, Assignments, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet and Chat on a single, integrated workspace to facilitate seamless collaboration.
With built-in access management, device management, data protection, and data encryption capabilities, Google Workspace for Education also helps educational institutions establish a safe and secure teaching and learning environment from anywhere, on any device.
“MAIWP is the first Islamic religious council to conduct a digital transformation to speed up the process in many areas, including education, entrepreneurship, recording and data analytics.
“After this, the process to interpret the MoU into training will begin to put them in a stable knowledge phase to expand Google technology throughout MAIWP.
“This technology will be expanded to primary and secondary schools, universities, mosques and suraus where interaction with asnaf children can be kept and analysed,” he said in a press conference after the signing.
MAIWP aims to leverage Google Cloud’s advanced analytics technologies, backed by robust data governance standards to uphold security and privacy for insights on underserved Muslim communities in Federal Territories, so it can design tailored services and programs to better meet these communities' needs.
“Finally, Google Cloud with its open, scalable, secure, and carbon-neutral cloud infrastructure will become an intrinsic part of MAIWP's Digital Blueprint strategy, as a key contributor to additional digital initiatives like the MAIWP EDU Cloud, MAIWP's digital library and hybrid cloud data centre services,” a statement by the council read.
Meanwhile, MAIWP Education Committee chairman Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohd Tahir said the collaboration will advance its digital transformation efforts and enhance teaching and learning experiences.
“As a leading Islamic religious council in the country, we are committed to adopting newer technologies, such as advanced analytics, to ensure that the services we provide to our communities continue to address their needs and can secure their future,” he said in the statement.
