KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 (Bernama) -- Allo Technology Sdn Bhd (Allo) is targetting to connect about 300,000 premises with internet access through the implementation of its fibre-optic infrastructure in Peninsular Malaysia by the end of the year.
Its chief executive officer, Ir Mohamed Ghous Ahmad, said Allo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), was able to realise the project’s implementation with low and fast expenditure due to TNB’s availability infrastructure.
He added that the initiative was to realise TNB’s aspirations as the leading provider of sustainable energy solutions in Malaysia and internationally, in line with the government’s goals under the National Digital Network (JENDELA).
“Under JENDELA, we provide Open Access services under the regulation of the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), which allows retail service providers to expand their network to underserved areas to bridge the digital divide.
“So, they do not have to invest or spend large capital to build networks. This is because Allo utilises TNB’s existing infrastructures in areas yet to have access so that operating costs are more effective with low capital expenditure,” he said when appearing as a guest on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara programme yesterday.
He added that Allo's infrastructure, which uses future-proof technology, allows all parties to fully explore the use of current technology.
“So, the retail service providers are not burdened with high operating costs and they can offer the best service at an affordable price,” he said.
Mohamed Ghous said the concept also provides an opportunity for consumers to choose their providers and allows Allo to collaborate with any party to upgrade broadband capabilities in line with current demands.
According to him, Allo also offers expertise in supporting government initiatives in the 5G implementation process, which requires telecommunication towers to be connected to fibre optic networks to channel data at a faster rate.
To date, Allo has successfully connected over 180,000 premises in Melaka, Perak, Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor with fibre optic broadband connections under the JENDELA initiative.
