Three-day Kelate Folk Arts Festival begins tomorrow

KOTA BHARU, June 15 (Bernama) -- The 2022 Kelate Folk Arts Festival (FKRK) will be held for three days starting tomorrow, at Pantai Geting, Tumpat.

The Kelantan National Culture and Arts Department (JKKN) in a statement today, said the FKRK is back specially for the local community as well as visitors from outside Kelantan, after two years absence following the COVID-19 pandemic and was only organised online last year.

"Various activities and interesting programmes have been lined up for visitors, among them, the Battle of the Bands competition, coloring contests and the FKRK Dikir Barat final competition, in addition to several traditional and community games," JKKN said.

Art performances, sales and exhibition booths as well as interactive programmes will also be organised during the three day event until June 18.

"At the FKRK Gala Nite on June 18, there will be a musical performance featuring a combination of  traditional drumming instruments such as the Rebana Ubi, Gendang Panjang Siam, Rebana Kercing and Rebana Mangkuk, which is a drumming instrument made from rubber bowls and can only be found in Tanah Merah,” read the statement
