POLICE ARREST TWO ASSOCIATION OFFICIALS IN AMPANG FOR CBT
KUALA LUMPUR -- Police have arrested two local men on suspicion of being involved in a criminal breach of trust case involving payment vouchers.
Ampang Jaya district police chief, ACP Mohamad Farouk Eshak said those detained were the president and treasurer of an association in Ampang.
Both suspects, aged 64 and 73, were detained in Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam.
The arrest follows a report made by a representative of the members of the association yesterday.

NEW PIPELINE CAN OVERCOME WATER PROBLEMS IN KUALA KEDAH - MB
ALOR SETAR -- The Kedah Government is confident that frequent water disruptions in the Kuala Kedah area can be overcome after the laying of new pipelines under the Pelubang Water Treatment Plant (LRA) Upgrading Project in Kubang Pasu is fully completed.
Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the new pipeline is about 35 kilometers (km) from Pelubang and is expected to be completed in seven months.
It is part of the 100km new pipeline through the plant upgrading work.

COMMUNITY ADVISED TO PRIORITISE KIDNEY CARE - RAJA PERLIS
KANGAR -- The Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail has called on the community to take early steps for kidney health care.
He said the care of the organs was often underestimated by the community and what was more worrying, the disease does not show any obvious symptoms until it is detected through a medical examination.
“In Malaysia, every day at least 10 people suffer from chronic or stage five kidney damage and require ongoing dialysis treatment," he said at the opening ceremony of the Wakaf Building of the Perlis Islamic Religious Council and Malay Customs (MAIPs) Tuanku Fauziah Hospital Dialysis Service Center (HTF).

MOBILE PHONE SHOP OWNER CHARGED WITH RECKLESS DRIVING
JOHOR BAHRU -- A mobile phone shop owner pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate's Court here today to reckless and dangerous driving charges endangering a police convoy early this month
Tan Wai Meng, 29, was alleged to have driven recklessly and dangerously by over-taking on the left side of the road.
Tan, who runs a business in Singapore, made the plea before Magistrate Zuhainie Zull Kafli.
He was charged with committing the offence at Kilometer 4.5 of the Eastern Dispersion Highway (EDL) heading towards the city centre here, at about 9.45 am, June 7.

VIDEO OF A BURNING FERRY AN OLD INCIDENT - JLM
KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian Marine Department (JLM) has denied that there was an incident of a passenger ferry burning in Langkawi waters yesterday as reported on social media.
The department in a statement today informed that the video was a fire incident that occurred in 2019.
"JLM would also like to inform that regular inspections are carried out on every registered passenger ferry to ensure safety aspects are not neglected,” said the statement.
Yesterday, some videos and photos of the fire incident involving a passenger ferry to Langkawi were posted on Facebook and the WhatsApp application.
