Beautiful Terengganu Campaign 2022 expanded to Pahang

KUALA TERENGGANU, June 29 (Bernama) -- To further boost the state’s tourism industry, the Pakat Maghi Terengganu 2022 Beautiful Terengganu Tour campaign will be extended to Pahang, the second destination after Kedah.

State Tourism, Culture and Digital Technology Committee chairman Ariffin Deraman said the campaign was participated by 13 tourism operators such as hotels, resorts, as well as those involved in community-based tourism (CBT).

He said the tour which would be held in collaboration with the Terengganu Branch of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), was aimed at promoting the state’s tourism industry as both Pahang and Terengganu shared several similarities, including having island resorts which have become popular tourist destinations.

“Terengganu will also make its ikan baung dishes as a new tourism product for the state, just like how Pahang rebranded its freshwater ikan patin which has now become a popular dish nationwide,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Terengganu MAH president Suaibah Harun said the campaign can serve as the best platform for industry players to obtain input and information on services and tourism packages offered in Terengganu.

“The promotional efforts driven by the Terengganu Tourism Department through various channels has shown a positive impact with the increase in bookings for hotels under MAH.

“The booking rate at 36 hotels registered under the Terengganu MAH has recorded an increase of up to 80 per cent since the border reopening on April 1 and it is hoped that this campaign will further boost the state’s tourism industry,” she said.
