PELABUHAN KLANG, Sept 8 (Bernama) -- The atmosphere at the Pulau Ketam jetty and nearby residential area this morning was unusually festive with the sounds of drums, gongs and cymbals filling the air, people waving the Jalur Gemilang and lion dance troupe performing acrobatic movements.
The event managed to attract the community on the island to participate in the "Program Semarak Hari Malaysia”, which was held in conjunction with the 2022 National Month, organised by the Selangor National Security Council (MKN).
More than 1,000 flags were distributed by the NSC to business owners, the community and tourists around the fishing village.
MKN deputy director-general (Strategic Security) Zamri Misman said the programme was organised to further strengthen the spirit of love for the country, including waving the Malaysian flag.
“More than that, together we work together taking care of the security of this country, by informing the authorities of any illegal and criminal activities.
“This is because the safety of the country is our responsibility. This is the gist of the National Security Policy 2021-2025,” he said in his speech when officiating the programme here today.
The programme also saw the participation of the Marine Police, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Malaysian Marine Department and Malaysian Civil Defence Force in helping to distribute Malaysian flags to fishing boat owners around the waters of Pulau Ketam jetty.
