MELAKA, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- The Persatuan Warisan Anak Jawa (Perwaja) Paya Dalam is actively organising various social activities in the area with about 18 villages to preserve the Javanese cultural heritage and traditions.

Perwaja adviser Datuk Rahmad Mariman who is also Ayer Molek assemblyman said the majority of the people in the area are of Javanese descent and the more than 10,000 population is the largest in the state.

"Most of them are those who migrated to this area in the 1920s and 1930s, and some of them still maintain the identity of the community in daily life including language, food and so on.
