PUTRAJAYA, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The number of integrity complaints against the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOMM) has dropped to 20 this year compared to 28 complaints received last year, according to K-KOMM secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek.
He said that based on the data from K-KOMM Integrity Unit, 31 complaints were received in 2020.
“All of the complaints have been resolved,” he said when officiating the 2022 K-KOMM’s Integrity Day celebration here today.
Mohammad said the ministry, along with 10 of its departments and agencies, has successfully developed the Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) after the government introduced the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP).
“Through the Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption (JKKMAR) meeting No 1/2022, the government has also agreed that all ministries and departments should obtain ISO 37001- Anti-Bribery Management System certification as an added value to the government's efforts to deal with the issue of leakages and irregularities.
“The existence of OCAP at the ministry and department levels proves K-KOMM’s commitment and seriousness in matters related to integrity and corruption,” he said.
Meanwhile, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Community Education Division director Datuk Razim Mohd Noor said 5,599 arrests have been made over the past six years, of whom 2,307 were charged, and 1,264 were convicted of corruption.
“Of the total, 48.8 per cent or 2,546 cases involved civil servants, and what was more worrying was that 57.8 per cent of the total were civil servants aged below 40.
“Among the offences recorded were accepting bribes (44.3 per cent), making false claims (30 per cent), relating to procurement (24.1 per cent), enforcement issues (24.4 per cent) and administrative issues (37.4 per cent).
“The statistics were quite worrying because if left unchecked, it would bring harm to the government administration system, which one day would be led by the young generation,” he said.
During the celebration themed 'Integriti Teras Keluarga Malaysia', Mohammad also led 300 K-KOMM personnel in taking their Corruption-Free Pledge.
