Gua Musang has 510 hectares of Musang King durian plantations - Exco

KOTA BHARU, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The Gua Musang district in Kelantan is reported to have 510 hectares of Musang King durian plantations being cultivated by large and medium scale local entrepreneurs.

State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology, Green Technology and Environment Committee chairman Tuan Saripuddin Tuan Ismail said, in the Lojing area, 250 hectares of the plantations are cultivated by Syarikat Sindiyan and another 120 hectares by Syarikat M7.

"Apart from these areas medium-scale entrepreneurs are managing a 50-hectare site in Chiku, 30 hectares (Bertam), five hectares (Renok) and 55 hectares (Gua Musang)."

He said this in reply to a question from Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim (BN-Galas) during the Kelantan state legislative assembly sitting at Kota Darulnaim here today.

He said the opening of these plantations had provided job opportunities for the surrounding residents, especially in estate management, cleaning, distribution and fruit harvesting.

“The local residents are given the opportunity to earn some income either as part-time or full-time workers," he added.
