JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- Thirty-nine employees of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) have graduated with a Master‘s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
UTM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Fauzi Ismail said the MCMC staff, consisting of officers at various levels, enrolled in the Accelerated Leadership Programme (ALPs), which is a collaborative leadership development programme between UTM and MCMC since 2019.
He said the main objective of the collaboration was to shape and optimise potential talents among MCMC staff as future leaders, especially in digital leadership.
"They are the first batch (to graduate) and are pioneers for the ALPs programme. Hence, we will continue to strengthen this programme to ensure more participation from MCMC.
"Throughout their study, they were taught the aspects of strategic thinking in bringing transformation to an organisation, utilising digital technology and available resources, as well as making changes to foster an organisational culture that is focused on involvement and outstanding achievements," he told a press conference in conjunction with the 66th UTM convocation here today.
Also present was MCMC Human Capital Division head Dr S.Murugappan.
Ahmad Fauzi said ALPs is a key project under the Azman Hashim International Business School (AHIBS) which offers a global standard MBA programme that is recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
"The uniqueness of this ALPs programme is the added value of extensive links with industry players through experience-based learning, including Microsoft, DHL, AmBank and Silverlake.
"Apart from that, a total of 13 influential chief executive officers (CEOs) from renowned organisations have also shared their experiences on the best practices in managing organisations during the course of the programme," he added.
He said the graduates also won various competitions in business simulation.
Meanwhile, Murugappan said the graduates from MCMC were highly-talented and with potential and underwent a selection process before being shortlisted for the ALPs programme.
“This programme is a strategic initiative in line with MCMC's commitment to preparing future leaders who have the potential to take over MCMC's leadership in the future.
"We are very proud of their achievements which today saw them receiving their scrolls. Congratulations," he said.
He expressed the hope that more of the MCMC staff could participate in the programme, which is fully sponsored by the commission.
Meanwhile, Md Tahir Musa and Shirley Kuan, who are among the graduates, expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to them to participate in the programme.
“We also intend to continue our studies while also contributing to MCMC,” said Tahir.
