Record 20,000 runners in CIMB Music Run 2022

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- The seventh edition of the Music Run by CIMB, saw a record 20,000 participants running to the beat at the Technology Park Malaysia in Bukit Jalil, yesterday.

Unlike other running events, the music run is a filled with fun and party like environment as music blasted throughout the 5 km race, for both timed or fun run categories to keep the participants with the healthy-lifestyle activities from 3 pm till 9.30 pm.

To add to the excitement, the participants were also treated to live performances by Australians Sam Withers and Jesse Lawrence as well rising Malaysian stars Saint Kylo, Airliftz and Aida Azrin as the race returned after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fresh Events Asia events director Callum Meehan said, the eagerness of the participants was evident through the number of messages received on social media asking for return of the event, as well as the  6,000 registrations received on the first day itself.

“Back in 2014, we came up with the Music Run as we noticed a hesitation in taking up fitness activities such as running. Our mission has always been to inspire people to lead more active and sustainable lifestyles.

“To date, it has been experienced by over 300,000 runners across 40 events in 13 countries. A unique feature of this music-infused event is its ‘sound track’ which has over 100 speakers lined up along the running track, to give an energetic feel to participants to enjoy a fun, safe and healthy experience,” he said.

Callum said, the organisers also set up a dedicated area named OctoCity, to raise awareness on sustainable living through interactive and educational booths, which provide a platform for participants to get acquainted with sustainability in all aspects - affordable and clean energy, zero food waste, and sustainable fashion.
