LABUAN, Jan 31 (Bernama) -- Petronas, through its corporate social responsibility arm Yayasan Petronas, has distributed food items and festive hampers to 50 families in this duty-free island under its Sentuhan Kasih festive programme in conjunction with Chinese New Year.
PC Methanol chief executive officer Lawai Jok said the house-to-house distribution was carried out by Petronas volunteers, comprising employees and the leadership team of Petronas Chemicals Methanol Sdn Bhd (PC Methanol), on Jan 27.
“Engaging and supporting members of the communities around our operations area has always been the focus of our social impact programmes. We hope that through this gesture we can help in spreading joy during this festive season,” he said in a statement today.
He said the recipients included elderlies, single mothers, orphans and persons with disabilities identified by the Labuan Social Welfare Department.
The initiative was part of the Sentuhan Kasih programme in conjunction with Chinese New Year this year involving over 2,000 recipients from B40 families nationwide.
