KUALA PERLIS, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The Kota Kayang Museum is a reflection of the history, culture and heritage of Perlis, according to the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.
He said the museum has the potential to serve as an ambassador to introduce the state to all Malaysians and the world as it is the only museum in Perlis.
"Museums are not only able to preserve and conserve the treasures of national heritage, but also educate the public to recognise and appreciate the rich history of cultural civilisation of the various races in this country.
"This, in turn, promotes racial understanding and unity,” he said after launching the Citra Nusa@ Muzium Kota Kayang Year 2023 programme today.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin was also pleased that the birthplace of his father, the Ruler of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, known as Rumah Hijau, had been placed on the grounds of the museum to enhance its surroundings.
The Raja Muda of Perlis also congratulated the Kota Kayang Museum for achieving the Gold Award rating under the Malaysia Tourism Quality Assurance (MyTQA).
"This award is one of the initiatives by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) to improve the service and quality of tourism products in Malaysia.
"I see this as one of great importance to the state in preparation for the Visit Perlis Year 2024-2025,” said Tuanku Syed Faizuddin.
