KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- Organisations have been urged to work together in promoting the initiatives to empower elements of occupational safety and health (OSH) undertaken by the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO).
Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar said the initiatives seek to protect and increase workers' safety, health and welfare.
“Among them are Workplace Health Promotion, Commuting Accident Prevention and Vision Zero. These programmes are formulated, planned and implemented with full attention to reducing accident rates,” he said when opening the 41st Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Awards hosted by the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) here today.
The 41st MSOSH OSH Award 2023 ceremony was held to honour organisations for their achievements in last year’s OSH performance such as the ability to lower the rate of workplace accidents and occupational diseases.
Notable businesses recognised at the ceremony were Petronas, FGV Holdings Berhad, Sarawak Energy Petron, Sunway Group, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor), KPJ and Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), among others.
Meanwhile, Sivakumar noted that the MSOSH OSH Awards serve as a significant benchmark for OSH in the country.
“This also shows MSOSH’s role as a leading and outstanding non-governmental organisation in promoting OSH issues in Malaysia,” he added.
