Maxis Lights Up Deepavali Celebrations With Sjkt Ladang Senawang Students, Teachers

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- Maxis employees brought Deepavali joy by celebrating the festival of lights at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Ladang Senawang in Negeri Sembilan, recently.

Maxis Berhad in a statement today said the event was joined by 22 Maxis mSquad volunteers who had provided education-related donations and curated engaging games as well as activities for an unforgettable festive celebration with more than 500 students, teachers and members of the Ladang Senawang community at the school.

In the spirit of giving back, mSquad volunteers also initiated a book contribution drive by Maxis employees and successfully collected over 400 books to furnish the school’s library.

Maxis also contributed refurbished laptops for the school and whiteboards for selected classrooms and gave packages of essential learning materials to selected students, the statement read.

To wrap up the celebratory day with an extra touch of warmth and togetherness, Maxis Berhad said everyone was treated to a delicious lunch spread.

Meanwhile, Maxis Chief Corporate Affairs Mariam Bevi Batcha was quoted in the statement as saying that they were deeply moved by the community's warm hospitality.

“We are happy to have participated in celebrating Deepavali together and hope that our contributions lifted the festive spirits,” she said. 

According to the statement, this year’s Deepavali corporate social responsibility (CSR) project at SJKT Ladang Senawang was the result of a successful crowdsourcing effort within Maxis, where a winning employee’s idea was given the necessary support and funding by the company to give back to the person’s chosen community.
