FUZHOU (CHINA), Nov 22 (Bernama) -- The Fujian Province located in southeast China offers cooperation opportunities in various fields, especially trade, industry, education and tourism.
Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office deputy director-general Huang Shaorong said Fujian exhibits high-quality economic development with rapid infrastructure progress, focusing on industries such as manufacturing, textiles, food and the digital economy.
"Fujian (romanised as Fukien or Hokkien) has close ties with Asian countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines through trade and twinning of cities. In fact, every year officials from Fujian will visit countries in the region to establish and further develop cooperation ties," she told Asian media practitioners in Fuzhou, Fujian recently.
Huang said as a province which has its beginning with the Maritime Silk Road in Quanzhou, Fujian is also known as the Land of Blessings because it has world heritage and historical sites, as well as unique nature. Thus, she hopes to promote Fujian as the next preferred tourist destination in China.
"Aside from Mount Wuyi, which is recognised as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site due to its biodiversity, it is also famous as a location for tea production, and Fujian is the largest tea producer in China," she said.
A total of nine media practitioners from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Pakistan and South Korea were recently invited to participate in a media visit programme to Fujian and Zhejiang, organised by the Department of Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China.
In the tour, the participants were taken to visit historic and famous areas in two districts in Fujian such as Kuliang Tourist Resort, Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, and Fushan Suburban Park in Fuzhou as well as the Quanzhou Maritime Museum and the Qingjing Mosque in Quanzhou, one of the oldest mosques in China.
The media delegation was also briefed on the redevelopment of the Cangxia community settlement, the progress of Fujian Provincial Port Group Co.Ltd. and Yuanhong Investment Zone where the China-Indonesia Twin Park project is located, in addition to the development of China's leading sports product manufacturer, Anta Group.
