KOTA BHARU, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) views seriously the erosion and collapse of a river bank in Kampung Kuau, Bachok, reported last Wednesday, said its director Kamal Mustapha.
The Bachok district engineer is investigating the matter and will submit a report on it, he said when contacted by Bernama, here today.
He was commenting on a Bernama report on Thursday regarding the concern raised by residents living along an eroded embankment in Sungai Kampung Kuau in Bachok, who are worried that unmitigated erosion and a recent collapse of a river bank behind a two-storey house could be life-threatening.
The house owner claimed to have incurred a loss of RM20,000 so far as a result of the collapsed riverbank.
