Bernama Tv Staff With Brain Cancer Receives Tabung Kasih@hawana Aid

KLANG, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Bernama TV broadcasting technician executive Hakim Mohd Zainudin, who is battling a stage four brain tumour, received a donation from the Tabung Kasih@HAWANA today.

The donation was presented by Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) editor-in-chief (assuming duties of chief executive officer) Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and deputy editor-in-chief (News Service) Arul Rajoo Durar Raj at his home in Bandar Bukit Raja here.

Also present was Bernama TV head Nor Hamzeela Md Hambali, who is also HAWANA secretariat. 

Hakim, 51, who was diagnosed with the disease in December last year after recovering from neck lymphoma, said he now has difficulty walking and has to use a wheelchair.

"I’m touched and grateful for their visit today and I deeply appreciate the donation," he told Bernama here.

Hakim is the 36th individual to benefit from the Tabung Kasih@HAWANA since the initiative was introduced in April last year, in conjunction with the celebration of National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2023.

It is an initiative of the Communications Ministry and implemented through Bernama to support media practitioners, former media personnel and veteran journalists who are in dire need of help.

Meanwhile, Nur-ul Afida said that Bernama, as the organiser of the Tabung Kasih@HAWANA, will continue its efforts to assist those affected by health issues and income loss.

"We will help as much as we can, and I hope that the allocation from the government can be utilised by them,” she said.

Nor Hamzeela said that Hakim had been advised by doctors to apply for an invalidity pension.

“On behalf of Bernama TV, I express our gratitude for the concern shown towards our personnel," she said.
