KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 18 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) today organised the MAIWP 2024 Carnival themed ‘50 Years of Driving Excellence’ in conjunction with its Golden Jubilee celebration.
The one-day carnival aims to disseminate the roles and services offered by the agency to the community in the areas of education, entrepreneurship, health, and welfare, besides fostering stronger ties with other participating agencies.
“There are 100 booths showcasing products from asnaf entrepreneurs, services, as well as educational and health institutions under MAIWP. The carnival also sees participation from MAIWP’s corporate partners, such as government agencies and celebrities,” it said in a statement.
The MAIWP 2024 Carnival was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The prime minister also presented mock cheques amounting to RM110,485,050 for essential food aid to representatives of MAIWP’s livelihood assistance recipients.
He also handed over school clothing and equipment aid amounting to RM15,316,832 for the 2024 session and similar assistance to students outside the Federal Territories through the MAIWP Taqwa Foundation, totalling RM2,139,200.
The carnival hosted various activities, including the MAIWP Fun Run with 500 participants, the Rahmah MADANI Sales, children’s contests and performances by the Armed Forces and the Fire and Rescue Department.
The highlight of the MAIWP 2024 Carnival is the ‘Malam Kesenian Islam’, featuring performances by Raihan, INTEAM, and Ezad Lazim, and concludes with the recitation of Selawat Nuril Mubin.
