Yang Dipertuan Muda Of Terengganu Gives Out Cash, Raya Clothes To 300 Students, Asnaf Children

DUNGUN, March 19 (Bernama) -- A total of 300 asnaf from two districts in the state of Terengganu received contributions from the Yang Dipertuan Muda of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail Sultan Mizan, at the Kampung Pulau Serai Mosque today.

The contributions in the form of cash and Aidilfitri attire, were given in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, which will be observed by Muslims next month.

The recipients included 200 primary and secondary school students from several schools in the Dungun and Kemaman districts.

The remaining 100 recipients were asnaf children who are beneficiaries of assistance from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM).

In addition to the ceremony, Tengku Muhammad Ismail also graciously joined the asnaf for iftar and performed the tarawih prayers with the congregation at the mosque.

Also accompanying them were the State Secretary of Terengganu, Datuk Seri Tengku Farok Hussin Tengku Abdul Jalil, and the Mufti of Terengganu, Datuk Dr Muhammad Sabri Harun.

In the meantime, a recipient, Noor Fatin Amira Mohamad Azmi, 17, a Fifth form student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sultan Ismail expressed her gratitude for the concern shown by the Regent of Terengganu towards the people.

According to Noor Fatin Amira, she had not made any preparations for the upcoming celebration due to her family's financial constraints.

"I have five siblings, all of whom are still studying. Two are in university and three, including myself, are in secondary school. My father works as a lorry driver and my mother is a homemaker. This year, we haven't been thinking about Raya preparations because the new school session has just begun. A lot of money is spent on school expenses," she said.

Another recipient, Nor Aidatul Nabiella Mohd Daud, a Year six student at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bukit Mentok expressed her joy at receiving new clothes for the upcoming festival.

She also expressed excitement at the opportunity to meet Tengku Muhammad Ismail for the first time.

"I want to use this money to buy new clothes for my siblings. Let's all have new clothes together," she said.
