TABUNG KASIH@HAWANA PROVIDES RELIEF TO NAVANEETHA TO UNDERGO TREATMENT

PUTRAJAYA, April 25 (Bernama) -- Tabung Kasih@HAWANA introduced last year has given relief to media practitioner R. Navaneetha Krishnan as it has lessened his burden in undergoing treatment for frozen shoulder due to an accident.

Navaneetha, 64, who is an editor at Allaioli, an online news portal, said Tabung Kasih@HAWANA initiative was good in assisting current and former media practitioners especially those in need.

“I was involved in an accident on Feb 15 Feb and received aid of RM2,000 under the Tabung kasih@HAWANA initiative on Feb 21.

“The donation allows me to undergo ayurvedic treatment in Chennai, India. Thanks to the Communications Ministry and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) which acted fast and did the needful.”

He said this after meeting with Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching together with Bernama chief executive officer Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin and deputy editor-in-chief (News Service) Nasriah Darus.

Meanwhile, Teo said Tabung Kasih@HAWANA was set up to help media practitioners who faced difficulties.

“It offers emergency funds to help media practitioners for treatments or operations, especially during an emergency,” she said.

Tabung Kasih@Hawana was established in conjunction with the 2023 National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) celebration to reach out to media practitioners, former media personnel and veteran journalists in need.

It is an initiative by the Ministry of Communications and implemented through Bernama as a continuous effort to help the media community who are facing difficulties and life challenges.
