FAMA TARGETS RM17 MLN SALES FOR THREE-DAY AIDILADHA SEMARAK

KOTA BHARU, June 14 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) is targeting a total of RM17 million for the three-day Aidiladha Semarak Sale which began yesterday and ends tomorrow.

Its director-general, Abdul Rashid Bahri said there are 685 locations nationwide aimed at helping the government to deal with the cost of living through the accessibility and availability of agro-food products at reasonable prices.

"The Aidiladha Semarak Sale is being held concurrently with the MADANI Agro Carnival in permanent farmers’ markets (PTK), giving opportunities to consumers to buy their supply of agro-food products easily and fresh at affordable prices.

“We are at RTC (rural transformation centre), farmers’ market at FAMA outlet stores such as bazaars and also MyFarm Outlet," he said.

He said this to reporters after officiating the MADANI Agro Carnival@RTC and launch of the 2024 National Aidiladha Semarak Sale programme at Tunjong RTC's promotions site today.

Abdul Rashid said this year’s MADANI Agro Carnival@PTK are at six selected locations namely the Seberang Jaya PTK in Penang, Chukai PTK (Terengganu), Chini Pekan (Pahang), Kelantan RTC, Datin Halimah PTK (Johor) and Changlun PTK (Kedah).

According to him, the annual programme will also help entrepreneurs with FAMA’s guidance to market their agro-food products directly at FAMA marketing outlets.

"In Kelantan, we have over 300 entrepreneurs who are participating and we are targeting 20,000 visitors and sales of RM500,000,” he said.

"Through such a programme, it can expand their (entrepreneurs) market and increase income so that visitors can get discounted prices such as combos involving wet items such as chicken, beef and vegetables.”

He also said that the supply of goods is stable and prices have not increased significantly which is quite low this year from 10 to 30 per cent compared to last year.
