KAO MALAYSIA ANNOUNCES BIORÉ GUARD MOS BLOCK SERUM, EXPANDS 'GUARD OUR FUTURE' PROJECT

KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 (Bernama) -- KAO Malaysia, an overseas subsidiary of KAO Corporation Japan, a global chemical and cosmetics company, announced its new ‘Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum’, a mosquito repellent-based serum formulated with a unique anti-landing technology to prevent mosquitoes from landing on the skin to feed.

KAO Malaysia, in a statement, said the announcement was in conjunction with the expansion of its ‘Guard Our Future’ global project, centred on innovative product technology and formulation that provides a cover protection shield, keeping mosquitoes away from people’s skin, in turn preventing mosquito bites.

“As part of the project, KAO Malaysia will also collaborate with the Selangor government through the signing of a memorandum of agreement, and pharmaceutical company Takeda Malaysia through a memorandum of understanding, in a series of activities aimed at protecting the lives of Malaysians against mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases like dengue fever,” the statement read.

KAO Corporation Skin Care Business president, Masahide Nishida, was quoted in the statement as saying that it is increasingly important to drive environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies forward the Kirei Lifestyle Plan to realise a truly sustainable society while enhancing business and minimising risks with the global landscape evolving rapidly and presenting new challenges.

“In 2023, we accelerated efforts towards our Mid-term Plan 2027 (K27) to realise our vision of ‘Protecting future lives — Sustainability as the only path’.

“Some key progress includes the launch of the new Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum as well as the ‘Guard Our Future’ project which combines our unique technology and key partnerships to save future lives,” he said.

Meanwhile, KAO Malaysia president Nishimaki Akira, in the same statement, said dengue fever has been a major societal issue not only in Malaysia but also throughout Southeast Asia for many years, in addition to global warming and increasing urbanisation which have also widened mosquitoes’ habitats and increased occurrences of dengue fever year on year.

“As part and parcel of KAO’s commitment to its strategy, we aim to synergise all efforts and expand on the promise of ‘Guard Our Future’ in containing and eradicating the dengue menace to our communities,” he said.

KAO will promote ‘Guard Our Future’ to achieve its future commitment to become an essential company in a sustainable society through company-wide endeavours to protect future lives, with Bioré GUARD Mos Block Serum as a representative of KAO's commitment to solving social issues. 

Until December, the company, through its ‘Guard Our Future’ project and with the cooperation of the Selangor government and Takeda Malaysia, will engage with the community through various means, including awareness talks about the dangers of dengue fever and ways to prevent and reduce transmission.

This is in addition to community engagement in 50 selected schools, as well as three community clean-up sessions in selected dengue hotspots in Selangor.
