BATU PAHAT, June 27 (Bernama) -- The Johor government is ready to assist in the funeral arrangements of a teenager who was reported missing on May 26, if the skeletal remains found in a durian orchard along Jalan Yong Peng-Muar on Monday are confirmed to be his.

State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said that the assistance would include the entire process from bathing to burial.

"Besides managing the funeral, the state government is also prepared to assist with other needs, including insurance, considering the teenager was still a student.

"On behalf of the state government, I extend condolences and hope that Hafiz Fauzan Abd Halid's father, Abd Halid Sugiman and the family remain strong in facing this trial," he told reporters after visiting the teenager's home in Bandar Putera Indah today.

It is understood that Hafiz Fauzan, 17, was headed to a friend’s house in Kampung Parit Ju, Tongkang Pechah to watch football before being reported missing.
