PRACTISE 'TABAYYUN', AVOID BEING INFLUENCED BY UNFOUNDED ALLEGATIONS - MOHD NA'IM

28/06/2024 07:38 PM

PUTRAJAYA, June 28 (Bernama) -- Muslims in Malaysia are encouraged to practise 'tabayyun' which refers to thoroughly investigating and verifying the authenticity of any claims and news in issues concerning national interests, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar.

Mohd Na'im called on Muslims not to be swayed by claims made by parties that are not based on facts.

He was referring to the allegation made by an influencer accusing the country's defence system will be controlled by foreign parties due to business dealings involving the investment company BlackRock.

"This allegation has indeed deviated from the actual facts, as clarified by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament recently, stating that BlackRock investment does not affect ownership and management aspects of airports and national defence," he said in a statement today.

He said the Prime Minister's Department views the accusation seriously while reminding the people to be cautious of the efforts by irresponsible parties attempting to instil fear and insecurity using sources that are defamatory and unreliable.

"The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) for the umpteenth time, wishes to reaffirm the government's stance and solidarity with the Palestinians who are facing the atrocities of Israel," he said.

On June 21, Anwar reminded all parties, including the opposition, not to politicise BlackRock's involvement in the restructuring of Malaysia Airport Holding Bhd (MAHB), adding that while everyone has the right to disagree with the government, they should not undermine its efforts in raising issues concerning Gaza.
