YADIM CONDEMNS EXPLOITATION OF PALESTINIAN CAUSE, URGES UNITY IN HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) has strongly denounced the exploitation of the Palestinian struggle and Al-Aqsa Mosque for personal, group or political motives, calling it deeply inappropriate.

Without singling out any specific parties, YADIM president Datuk Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus emphasised the importance for all sectors of society to be rational, open-minded and able to distinguish between various other interests and the sacred cause of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“It is a collective responsibility of the Muslim community to uphold this struggle as a global humanitarian issue, uniting all Malaysians and people worldwide in solidarity,” he said in a statement today.

At the same time, Hasanuddin urged all parties to support Malaysia's consistent policies on the Palestinian cause, endorsed by successive Prime Ministers up to current Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Hasanuddin, who is also Majlis Amal Islami Malaysia (MAIM) chairman, extended his gratitude to all Islamic movements in Malaysia and the people for their steadfast support in the humanitarian efforts for Palestine.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Himpunan Gerakan Islam Malaysia (HIKAM), comprising four non-governmental Islamic organisations, expressed disappointment and concern over the politicisation of Palestinian issues to attack political opponents, especially ahead of the (Sungai Bakap) by-election.

It said the severe humanitarian crises and blatant violations of human rights in Palestine should not be exploited for political advantage.

“Politicising the Palestinian cause, which should unify us, risks dividing the Malaysians when exploited irresponsibly,” the statement read.

“It is inappropriate and unethical to label or defame any group advocating for Palestine, undermining the dignity and moral conduct necessary for resolving conflicts. The Palestinian issue demands consistent and objective advocacy,” it added.

HIKAM reiterated the necessity for continuous efforts against Zionist regime atrocities in Palestine, urging all stakeholders, including government bodies, opposition factions, NGOs and the public to actively contribute to the advocacy.
