KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul today held a meeting with Bangladesh Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, who is currently on an official visit to Malaysia starting yesterday until Sunday.
The Malaysian Parliament, in a statement today, said during the meeting, Johari and Shirin Sharmin discussed several matters and issues of mutual interest.
These included the entry of foreign workers into Malaysia, digital technology development and the importance of cooperation between both countries through platforms like ASEAN, as well as the Rohingya ethnic refugee crisis.
“Dr Shirin Sharmin also touched on the significance of Parliamentary Friendship Groups which can delve deeper into the raised matters and issues,” the statement read.
Shirin Sharmin and her delegation were also briefed on the implementation of the e-Parliament system and taken on a tour of the Dewan Rakyat and the Parliament grounds.
The official visit will further strengthen cooperation, particularly within the legislative branches of the two countries, the statement read further.
