SYARIAH LEGISLATION AND JUDICIARY CONVENTION TO CLARIFY HARMONISATION OF SYARIAH-CIVIL LAWS

PUTRAJAYA, July 10 (Bernama) -- The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) will host the Syariah Legislation and Judiciary Convention on Monday (July 15), aimed at clarifying the harmonisation process of Syariah-Civil laws at all levels.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said that the convention also seeks to enhance understanding and strengthen actions to collectively dignify Syariah legislation and judiciary, within the framework of the Federal Constitution.

“This convention will provide a platform for open, professional, and constructive dialogue towards dignifying Malaysia's Syariah law and judicial system comprehensively,” he said, in a statement.

The convention is organised in collaboration with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), the Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia (JKSM), the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM), the Federal Territories Syariah Court (MSWP), the Federal Territories Syariah Prosecution Department (JAPENSWP), and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP).

Scheduled to be held at Complex F, Precinct 1 Putrajaya, the one-day event is expected to be officiated by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

It will gather around 1,000 participants, including legal practitioners such as judges, lawyers, academics, and representatives from Islamic agencies.
