ADDITIONAL FELDA ALLOCATION SHOWS GOVT'S CONCERN - SETTLERS

14/07/2024 04:10 PM

SERDANG, July 14 (Bernama) -- The announcement of an additional RM100 million allocation to Felda further demonstrated the government's commitment under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to address people's concerns.

National Felda Settlers head Sulong Jamil Mohamed Shariff said that the Prime Minister's announcement also demonstrates that all issues can be resolved through the negotiation process.

He expressed his agreement with the Prime Minister's approach.

“We have our solution. The solution is to be courteous and appeal to the government. Alhamdulillah, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) listened to our concerns. However, we should raise our issues politely,” he said when met by Bernama.

He was commenting on the Prime Minister's announcement of an additional allocation of RM100 million to Felda, to offset increased operating costs resulting from the implementation of the targeted diesel subsidy, made during the Felda Settlers' Day 2024 celebration, here, today.

Anwar, in his speech, also announced that the government has approved an allocation of RM31.7 million for 317 Felda settlements, under the Sejahtera Komuniti MADANI (SejaTi MADANI) programme.

Abu Hassan Abdul Manaf, 68, from Felda Sungai Retang, Jengka, expressed his happiness following the Prime Minister's announcement.

Abu Hassan, who is also the Felda Sungai Retang level four block chief, said that the allocation will enable the implementation of various programmes and community activities.

“We would like to thank the Prime Minister for providing funds for all Felda settlements. Now, we can implement programmes, such as social activities for the community, gotong-royong, and more,” he said.

Another settler, Md Ghazali Ramlan, 63, from Felda Lok Heng Timur in Kota Tinggi, Johor, also welcomed the announcement.

“This allocation will help Felda settlers; now we can do many things for Felda,” he said.
